13 de maio – Dia dos Pretos Velhos
A legião de espíritos chamados “Pretos-Velhos” foi formada no Brasil devido ao comércio do tráfico de escravos arrebanhados da África. Estes negros aos poucos conseguiram envelhecer e constituir mesmo de maneira precária uma união representativa da língua, culto aos Orixás e aos antepassados e tornaram-se um elemento de referência para os mais novos, refletindo os velhos costumes da Mãe África.
Eles conseguiram preservar e até modificar, no sincretismo, sua cultura e sua religião. Idosos mesmo, poucos vieram, já que os escravagistas preferiam os jovens e fortes, tanto para resistirem ao trabalho braçal como aos castigos corporais. Porém, foi esta minoria o compêndio no qual os incipientes puderam ler e aprender a ciência e sabedoria milenar de seus ancestrais, tais como o conhecimento e emprego de ervas, plantas, raízes, enfim, tudo aquilo que nos dá graciosamente a mãe natureza.
O termo “Velho”, “Vovô” e “Vovó” é para sinalizar sua experiência, pois quando pensamos em alguém mais velho, como um vovô ou uma vovó subentendemos que essa pessoa já tenha vivido mais tempo, adquirindo assim sabedoria, paciência e compreensão. No mundo espiritual, a grande característica dessa linha é o conselho e é devido a esse fator que carinhosamente dizemos que são os “Psicólogos da Umbanda”.
Os Pretos Velhos representam a humildade, força de vontade, a resignação, a sabedoria, o amor e a caridade. São um ponto de referência para todos aqueles que necessitam: curam, ensinam, educam pessoas e espíritos sem luz. Com seus cachimbos, fala pausada, tranquilidade nos gestos, eles escutam e ajudam àqueles que necessitam, independentemente de sua cor, idade, sexo e de religião.
São extremamente pacientes com os seus filhos e, como poucos, sabem incutir-lhes os conceitos de karma e ensinar-lhes resignação. Não se pode dizer que em sua totalidade esses espíritos são diretamente os mesmos Pretos-Velhos da escravidão, pois, no processo cíclico da reencarnação, passaram por muitas vidas anteriores, como negros escravos, escritores, filósofos, médicos, ricos, pobres, iluminados e outros. Com efeito, para ajudar aqueles que necessitam, escolheram ou foram escolhidos para voltar à terra em forma incorporada de Preto-Velho. Outros, nem negros foram, mas escolheram como missão voltar nessa pseudo-forma, com o objetivo de manter uma perfeita comunicação com aqueles que os procurarem em busca de ajuda.
O espírito que evoluiu tem a capacidade de assumir qualquer forma, pois ele é energia viva e condizente de luz e a forma é apenas uma consequência do que eles tenham que fazer na terra. Esses espíritos podem se apresentar, por exemplo, em lugares como um médico e em outros como um Preto-Velho ou até mesmo um caboclo ou exu-guardião. Tudo isso vai de acordo com o seu trabalho, sua missão. Não é uma forma de enganar ou má-fé com relação àqueles que acreditam, muito pelo contrário, quando se conversa sinceramente, eles mesmos nos dizem quem são, caso tenham autorização. Por isso, se você for falar com um Preto-Velho, tenha humildade e saiba escutar, não queira milagres ou que ele resolva seus problemas, como em um passe de mágica Entenda que qualquer solução tem o princípio dentro de você mesmo. Tenha fé, acredite em você, tenha amor a Deus e a você mesmo.
Para muitos os Pretos-Velhos são conselheiros mostrando a vida e seus caminhos; para outros, são psicólogos, amigos, confidentes, mentores espirituais; para outros, são os exorcistas que lutam com suas mirongas, banhos de ervas, pontos de fogo, pontos riscados e outros, apoiados pelos exus guardiões desfazendo trabalhos. Também combatem as forças negativas (o mal), espíritos obsessores e kiumbas.
A figura do Preto-Velho é um símbolo magnífico. Ela representa o espírito de humildade, de serenidade e de paciência que devemos ter sempre em mente para que possamos evoluir espiritualmente.
